I’m Matthew Brazier, a photographer based in Washington, DC.
I developed my passion for photography after discovering and resuscitating my father’s old darkroom equipment as a teenager. Sometimes I miss spending countless hours in the dark with only the quite sounds of simple mechanics and smell of chemicals but most days I appreciate the artistry and proficiency of the digital darkroom. I try to keep one foot in both the traditional and digital mediums by shooting film often and occasionally creating digital negatives for alternative printing processes.
Lately I’ve been trying to find my place in the world of photography. While I’ve always enjoyed the art, I never felt as if I was contributing to the betterment of our world. Growing up in the rural panhandle of Florida instilled in me an affection for the natural world and now I want to use my craft to help preserve the wilderness for future generations. I hope to not only focus on the protection of threatened environments but also how humanity can progress along side these environments in a sustainable way.
